I seem to be going on swings where I do well- then don't do well again. Please feel free to give me posts that kick me back into gear. Two weeks is all too long to update our family blog.

As a follow-up post from our friends Shawn and Lindsey's little bundle of joy... Kendall is the sweetest little baby. I was able to spend the weekend with them in Melbourne, FL photographing her adorable little face. She was so cooperative and let us put all kinds of props on her. It was so much fun! Here is one that I took and the rest are yet to come. (You'll have to check the Beth Daane Photography blog for the rest.) I have missed Shawn and Lindsey so much, it was so nice to spend some time together and especially with Kendall to add to the family.

Congratulations Dear Friends!

My dear, dear friends Lindsey and Shawn welcomed their precious baby girl into the world yesterday! It's pretty interesting and I am realizing I actually know a little more then I thought I did! Now, that being said- there is SO MUCH that I don't know, but I have a great teacher and am picking up little nuggets here and there. It's a pretty neat thing.

Our society and businesses in our society are changing so much. It's a new day and age and one of technology and relationship building... at least it is in my book. I wouldn't be in business if it were just a job. It is about building relationships and friendships and connections that are going to last a lifetime.

For a long time I thought that social networking was a bit "out there" and unsure of where it might fit into my overall life and business. What I am finding is that it is strengthening my relationships with friends, family and those I work with all at the same time. I definitely feel that it can be a crutch and misused, but when it's used the right way it brings a stronger bond. Keep this in mind... don't forget about the human touch!

My Niece

All I can say is that I adore my little niece- isn't she gorgeous?!

The Day of the Tick

Near our home there is a great park that I do a lot of family portraits at. Recently there were hundreds of goats and sheep that spent a few weeks roaming the land and grazing on the weeds. The farmer would take them from one area, then move them to another. I thought it would be a great place to bring the kiddo's to and after speaking with the farmer who gave me permission to go inside the gate- we headed out! We had a great time- Rita was up visiting that day, so she came with us. Despite the good time, I have to admit I was a little afraid when all the goats and sheep started running toward us at one point. Many hours later I found the most disgusting thing ever----a TICK had crawled up my pant leg and was beginning to feast on my blood. My precious untainted blood... I did everything I shouldn't have- I screamed, ggrabbed it, pulled it off my leg and threw it. I know- what an idiot! Luckily it had JUST started embedding itself, so I got it all out and also lucky for me I have a husband who found it after I threw it. Three words--- YUCK YUCK YUCK! Here was the best part of the day...

A Baby on the Way!

My Friend and Partner in MOPS crime!

A dear friend (and fellow lover of photography) asked me to do a maternity session. I sure can't. Every day is such a fun adventure with both my babes, but Reagan is at that age where her imagination is running rampant. I love this image of her. I am going through old pictures and this one is from May (I think!). This is so her, though- sunglasses, a cutie lil suit and her shoes. When I married Sam he had them too. We condensed our sentiment's into a large box for each of us and still have them. Some things are too special to let go. This is one of those things that shouldn't have "gone". Sam was given this bank by his Aunt Marsha when he was young. We had it tucked away in his box- put away fairly well and secured high in the rafters of the garage. Here lies the problem... The heavy duty chain pulled out of the ceiling in the garage and the shelf fell, allowing Sam's sentiment box to fall about 12 feet to the ground. In the crash, his baseball bank broke. I decided that we could take a photograph of it before laying it to rest in it's many pieces and that it would become a blog story (picture and all) for us to keep the sentiment alive. RIP baseball bank. Your memory won't be forgotten.

My Babies

Everyday that I wake up I am so blessed. I will need to keep posting "blasts from the past" because I have some catching up to do with a few things!

Well, this one is kind of about my work. I don't talk a ton about it on this blog since I have my work blog, but in case you are a "one-blog-looker" and it happens to be this one, I will share here...

I met Pajo- a private fine dining and catering chef- a few months ago- in fact it might even be going on 7 or 8! I do a lot of food photography for him with absolutely amazing creations, but I was able to do a session with he and his family two weeks ago. It was awesome! It's so nice to be able to work with people who exude goodness and positive energy! The best part about having met he and his wife are that we are forming some wonderful friendships. I have the best job- I get to photograph his creations, then eat them! How much better could it get then that? One of my favorite dishes (please forgive the simple terms her...) was one that consisted of bacon ice cream! OMGoodness! It was so perfect...bacon makes everything better!

Here are a couple portraits, but you can check my "work blog" if you want to see some more.

This one is one of my MOST favorites!

Reminiscing

Thinking about it having been a while since I posted so I started looking through archives of images and last Christmas. I can't resist, I have to add these images to the blog today.

Reagan loved Candy Cane's last Christmas. Other loves of the season were Josh Grobin, Manheim Steamroller (don't know if that's spelled right) and Jason Mraz. She could even pick out songs from the radio... and she had just turned TWO! The girl has good taste...

On the way home from visiting Daddy at work where we tracked Santa on the space satellites Reagan decided to put an apple up her nose. I am SO THANKFUL I was able to get it out. Sam and I went on our first Marriage Retreat this past weekend at Zephyr Cove in Lake Tahoe on the Nevada side. We are so appreciative of Grandma and Grandpa M who watched the babies (and totally wore them out) so we could have a weekend alone. They went to bed tonight without a peep! (Ok- so what if they go to bed every night without a peep---at least tonight it was a touch easier then normal!)

Anyways- we went to our first marriage retreat and were able to completely focus on each other, be with some wonderful friends, have some good food, take in a GREAT view and learn from absolutely fantastic "presenters". Bill and Pam Farre are the authors of several books including Men Are Like Waffles and Women Are Like Spaghetti. The topic of conversation over the weekend was surrounding the book listed above. I will say this for now (and more to come) BUY IT!!! If you are a young or seasoned couple, it will do nothing but amazing things for you and how to view your other half. Sam and I have been so, so, so blessed to have been able to be there this weekend. I don't really have the words to describe as to how much I appreciate and love my husband, and how perfect the weekend was, but there will be more to come for sure!

Sam's Big Jump

Jumpitty Jump he went...

An Air Force team building activity- jumping out of airplanes! Sam did his big jump with a bunch of his friends this summer and he is totally hooked! The kids and I stayed where we belor- on the ground! We had a blast watching him and my completely non-adventerous soul only had a slight tingle of excitement thinking about doing it myself some day. They I breathed again and the air started flowing and so did the common sense. We have a super cool video that I can't convert into a file that I can put up here, but I will keep trying. I also apologize that these pictures aren't in order, but I can't get blogger to work with me tonight and I am too tired to fight with it. The other one I posted about was only up for a few hours. (Yes, I know- I should have gone to bed earlier because my son woke early and now I am awake and he is asleep again!) This one is a little easier on the eyes and a pleasant look. I wanted something a little more wild and fun, but also simple-- and I don't think those things go together. They are pretty contradictory, aren't they?! You may also notice that I have changed the title and description. When I started this blog, 4 years ago this month, it was because I wanted a place to personally ramble about life. Since then, Sam and I have added one dog, one daughter, one son and a new state. ....almost in that order!.... So I thought the title needed to reflect the change in our family and in the blog. More changes to come! Have a great day and thanks for stopping by!

Change is Hard

I know- you've just popped on and noticed that I changed the blog. Sorry if you don't like it- I am, really! I don't want you to stop by and hate the new look. I like it, but I actually am looking for something a little more simple and clean looking. I liked the plain black, it just got a little old and boring for me! So- I'll keep this cool and hip new background until I find something new---will keep looking.......

Vacations

We have been on vacation in our household. First to WI as a family and then I took off with Trevor for our first Mother-Son trip to Florida while Sam and Reagan held the fort at home. I am actually still gone, but will be home later this week. Just wanted to make a quick update and let everyone know that we are still here and haven't forgotten about the blog- although I know it seems that way.

I hate to blog without a pic, so I decided to throw one up here that my bro took of he, Amy and I the other day on the 4th of July in fact! We were walking to the car with the three of us, Trevor, Nohah and Grandma and Grandpa M and we got stopped by a train. We looked at a sign at the little pub we were stopped in front of and they were having a shot and beer special for $2. Well, we just couldn't resist a sale, so we left the babies with their grandparents, ran inside- documented the joyous occasion on David's camera phone, *enjoyed* our beverages (of pbr and cheap whiskey) and ran back outside to continue about our day. Boy do I love life!

It's very sad.

It's very sad that I haven't made more then one post in the entire month of May. I am a bit shocked. In fact, I am quite disappointed.

I am falling into my groove with being a Business Owner, Artist, Mother, Wife, Daughter, Sister, Aunt........ Being tugged a million places and yet, having the ability and JOY of being able to be stretched in each way. It's just a learning curve. Learning how to stretch, bend and bow to each way.

This being said, I will be trying very hard to update more regularly again. I love my blog and I love to write and keep friends and family informed about our lives. I may be a little slow to start back up again because we will be going on vacation to Wisconsin soon and I am sad to say that although it is sure to be a fun trip, I won't be able to see many of my friends that live throughout the state. We are so happy that we will be able to make our family reunion for 3 days with my family and then with Sam's family for 3 days. Not NEARLY enough time, but then again it never is. We fly into MN and will be able to hit up a little shopping at the Mall of America, so that will be quite a treat! (for the girls anyways!) So- when I return I will begin my regular posting again and no more of this slacking!!!

Patience

I am so sorry I haven't updated the blog. I have been getting shouted at on many levels about this- and believe me- I hate it that I've not done any new updates! I CAN tell you this- they are coming and in the works.

We have had LOTS of technology changes here at the Daane Household and I am trying to keep up with our new pace. We have had 3 of 4 computers in the "shop". I have also gone MAC! You know they say...once you go Mac you never go back! (We are already planning how we will be converting our household of computers to all be Mac's over the next several years. (Not an inexpensive affair I might tell you!)

I love my new Mac. Had a snafoo with the first one- so they upgraded me to the brand new GREEN aluminum body version. Wow! I am still getting used to it and will be studying hard on how to use all of the new features that Apple has to offer.

The kids- well, they are fabulous! They are crawling around together as we speak and having races in the living room. R loves her brother so much and he totally adores her. Whenever we say her name he lights up like it's the best this that's ever happened. (Crawling into the kitchen and circling the island.) Laughing, laughing, laughing. (actually I do- just not on the blog- I will try to be better about this.)

Reagan just told me not to touch her eye ball, that it would be very bad. (As I type it it isn't nearly as funny as it was when she said it, but there you go!)

Trevor is squishing up his nose and face and it is so funny! I taught Reagan and he to do this, but when R was smaller she did it differently. Trev's is so much more dramatic! I got some pics yesterday- will get there soon.

Happy Tax Day!

Painting Toes and Hangin' Out

Our little girl wanted her toes painted- so I did it! It is a very pale pink but she thought it was the coolest thing ever. Trev is doing great. He is so chill and very go-with-the-flow. This is especially good since we stay pretty busy! Yesterday we were at R's playgroup. Trev just sat and watched everyone. Poor kid- he wants to be out playing so much. It's only a matter of time before he is up and running. He is already crawling very well, pulling himself up and standing and growing into such an adventurous little boy. Where is my baby going???? (More with him later!)

Poor Sick Babies

My little babies- they just break my heart when they aren't feeling well. Trevor had already gone to bed tonight when I pulled out the camera. I have a new attachment to my flash that I wanted to use so R got to be the little model- doesn't she look so sad! I hate it when my babies are sick- they both have terrible colds. T is on the upswing and R is just starting to get it.
