Portroids

This is a portroid of Alice from my unknown friends' blog/ website. I don't know Alice, but I am sure she is a nice person. She has a sweet aura. I really don't even know this person I call my friend, but I have decided he is. He doesn't know he is. I hope he is a good person. I think he might be. I would hate to have a blogger friend that isn't a good person. He speaks of his wife, she sounds like a funny woman. The portroids drive her nuts. The portroids make alot of my buddies buddies batty. Sounds like some people I know. I think I will call my blogger portroid friend "Porty". Unless I ever meet him or hear from him, he will become "Porty". Some day I hope to have a portroid done by Porty. Check out Porty's sites...

A New Birth!

Well, Kim gave birth the Matt and Kim's beautiful baby girl on Wednesday!!! I didn't bring my camera (I know- everyone gasp) because I was at work when we went to see them, but I stole this pic from my friend Sam's blog (thanks girl)! Her name was kept "secret" until Weds- and the secret is out! Avery Grace...isn't it beautiful! Very fitting for the beauty of the baby and her parents too!

The Legend of the DON-KAY!!!!!

Flashback...
Two years ago at Christmas time my Mom and I were shopping or something, I can't even really remember, but she got me this Christmas Cookie Cutter of "The Legend of the Donkey" in reference to the birth of Christ. (Side note- a pretty cute little story.) Well, for several weeks I would walk around the house saying, "The Legend of the DON-KAY", you know, in that deep movie-type commentary voice. And you can't just say- donkey- it is DON-KAY. You also have to bob your head around in just the right way from one side to the other so the words come out just so. It is really a work of art that can be perfected by just the right individual! Now this little show I put on for weeks on end really drove Sam nuts, but it made my Mom and Pops laugh- especially Crazy Mari- so how could I help but not repeat it over and over and over and...you get the picture.

This brings us to today...
So I started craving sugar cookies a few days ago and found this recipe- I DID call Mom for hers, but she never called back- tisk tisk woman! Well, I found this other recipe on the net and it said it was a thick sugar cookie recipe- the only problem was that it made 8 dozen. Well, I decided I would do it anyways because I really wanted thick cookies (my fav). I started making them and realized I needed 7 cups of flour. I only had 4. In my genious state I decided to use Bisquick Baking Mix instead. Not really a good choice I don't think. I used my DON-KAY cookie cutter for the first time and not ONE SINGLE DON-KAY turned out!!! Some were totally my fault- ya those really dark brown ones- that was a whoops that I forgot in the oven as I was cleaning.

The moral of the story...
If you decide to live out that dream of making your favorite DON-KAY cookies, be smart- lower your pride and go ask the neighbor for 3 cups of flour, or go to the store, or check your supplies first! It really is that simple, if only I had learned that first! Oh well, I WILL attempt the DON-KAY cookies again, although I will not use Bisquick Baking Mix and I will watch my timer better- maybe even set two. I suppose it just wasn't meant to be this time around.

See you soon DON-KAY!!!

What- a Dog on the BED?!?!

Ok, so for those of you who know our crazy "little" Mykah you know that she has quite some neurotic issues. One of which being that she would not get on the bed after I hung the curtains- now mind you, the dog had previously REFUSED to NOT sleep on the bed for her last three years of life. Well, she was deathly afraid of the curtains. The vet suggested one of two things- Prozac or "Good Dog Therapy". We chose "Good Dog Therapy"...you know, leaving piles of treats in the room for her to eat during the night, praising her for coming in the room or even just stepping one step closer to the room in the hall. No- I am not kidding, I wish I were. Well, all of a sudden this morning, she decided she wanted to "hop-up"! There she is on the bed, that darn dog! She has been sleeping on it for about 2 hours now- a record! (Personally I think it is because Sam and I finally decided to get a new bedspead since she wasn't sleeping on it anymore and we could finally have something nice.) We will see how long this lasts- it definately could be a fluke incident! Oh yes- and that is Sam (still) sleeping on the other side of her...

Labor Day Weekend

Labor Day Weekend

We sure had a fun filled weekend! Sam and I went to Shawn and Lindsey's for dinner then a movie- 40 Year Old Virgin- highly reccomended, but beware! NOT for the youngin's to see- I think you should probably be at LEAST 40 to watch it!

We also had a cook-out at Samantha and Brians. I couldn't help but put the photo of the two "mom's to be" and the shot of Tanner begging to come in the house- goofy kid! He was outside with all the "big boys" then decided he wanted to come in, but couldn't quite figure out how to get that door opened! I have about 15 pic's of Tanner posing for me because once he learned he could see the pic's right away he wanted to be a model- so I follwed him all around the house while he said, "Ok, here, ok here!" It is such a funny kid!! Also above are Matt and Kin, Keelee, Lou and their new addition Madison Yes, she is a HUGE Badger fan! hee hee hee! Ok, so maybe not THAT Big 10 team, but we pretend!

Monday we took in "Labor Day" by having dinner with Tony, Kari and the kids- yeah- two now! As well as Bryan, Julie and Hudson. Two perfect couple to go out and eat red meat with!

Big Hearts

Ok, so I got a call on Sunday morning right before church that th AFB was sending out a bunch of supplies to the gulf to many survivors including Keesler AFB where there were many families trapped on the base. I threw together a little flier and they announced it at church- within 3 hours we were able to gather so many things! I went back to church and there were so many supplies that I had to unpack the car then re-pack it to get in the items I had at home. It was unbeliveable! (That's the photo on top of the stuff outside...) The other photo is of Sam and I, Cindee and Susan delivering everything else. It was so awesome!!! It was short notice, but so many people pulled together to get something pulled together quickly. There are more drives going on now, but this was so uplifting to see something happen so quickly- and it all left a few hours later to those in need!

Live Katrina Blog Photo's again...

I continue to read the live blog going on from New Orleans. The guy who updates it continues to updaate it every hour or so. It is such a heart opening way to see what is really going on out there. Some of the good things I have read is that they are now getting more and more help- caravans of portable toilets and making enormous differences he said. Other supplies continue to come in also. The photo above is one (of many) from the web site showing troops coming in to assist in the public's safety.

Michelle Lin's Baptism

Kim and Greg had asked Sam to sing at the church ceremony of Michelle's baptism. Sam sang a perfect song that they had chosen called, "Before I Knew Your Name". He has such a beautiful voice, and did a great job. A memory Michelle won't remember, but will be told of for years to come. It was a very special day and we are honored that they asked Sam to be a part of it.

The Root Kiddo's

And now there are three...Tom, Ryan and Michelle- the boys are still quite the little comediams and boy do they love their little sister!

Friends and Family

Top: Adam and Deanna, Above: The Newlyweds to Be! McKenzie and Andy and Right: Dawn and Doug

We had a great time visiting with friends and family alike. It was great to meet McKenzie! She and Andy are to wed next August 8th!

You MUST read...

This is unreal...I couldn't help but get tears in my eyes and shiver when I read this. This group has started a blog they update every hour or so from Hurricane Katrina's core. If you are a person of faith, please pray for them. I am also adding this to my "Links you just gotta check out". I included some photographs from this web-site. They are small, but if you go to that site there are hundreds more. They are pics of people getting waterdropped off by the feds.

Here are a couple photo's of Michelle. I was so tired I fell asleep while holding her. We slept for about an hour I think!! Sam is holding her after he sang for her baptism. She wasn't very happy with him.
