This is a story of our family life in the House of Daane. Mommy, Daddy, Girl, Boy and two neurotic puppies. A typical American family growing, changing and evolving as we make our way across the country one step at a time.

Dedicated To My Girl...
Oh My Girl... I love you so much! Happy 3rd Month my sweet dear. I am so sorry that I have to tell you about this next new milestone in our lives. Tomorrow I start my first week back working 40 hours a week. (Although, I have been working the last 6 weeks from home about 10-20 hours a week, it is much more dramatic to start this new week at a full 40.) I will be working at home about 20 hours and away from home 20 hours and this is a tough thing for your Mommy, I am sure much more tough for me then you. I never thought I would work outside the house after your Daddy and I had our sweet babes, but I will be. I am excited that you will be able to hang out with new people- that part I am okay with and I welcome for you- how boring would it be to hang out with only me all day?! What I am not okay with is all of the "stuff" that comes along with working outside our home, but not to fear my sweet- I will not dwell on it! Remember, my girl, I am always at your beck and call. I don't care what time of day or night- I am yours. I will miss you terribly tomorrow when I leave, but please, know that I will be home soon and you will have a wonderful time without me! I love you, my girl, I love you.

Cement and Babies
Today we had a fun event- we woke up our sleeping daughter to put her little hands and feet in molds! Wow! Something I am glad we don't do everyday! She wasn't very happy with us as you can see, but the outcome will be worth it in years to come! I also included a photo of her from yesterday wearing the hat and sweater my cousin Cindy sent. I am not positive, but I think she knitted the hat and sweater! It is so very beautiful I am so excited to have it for her!
Reagan wasn't very happy in this photo because her eye's were in the sun right before this and it made her cranky. I don't blame her, I would have been cranky, too! She looks so precious in the hand crafted sweater and bonnet!

Wine Club Update #3
Good news: The guage was at 1.006 so it was ready to transfer. Last night it was still too high when we checked. It should have been ready between 5-7 days. It took 9 days.
Bad news: Sam and I think that we weren't supposed to put the bung and airlock on until the step we took tonight. We aren't positive, but think it was supposed to be corked with the stopper until tonight and having the air lock and bung prior to tonight was allowing too much CO2 to be let out from the carboy/ fermenting wine thus why it took an extra two days to be ready for tonights step. Oops!
I guess we will see what happens! I still need to check with my friend Kristi and see if she might have some tips for us and if she will join us at our next meeting. (Still need to figure out when that will be, but am trying to coordinate it with when the wine will be ready.)
Many thanks to my hubby for the help! What a good wine maker- he even has the wine making dud's on!

Wine Club Update #2
This is the varietal we have decided to start with. Pinot Blanc.
Day 3
It is hard to tell in the photo, but the temperature needs to be between 65-75 degrees.
It is at 72, right on the money!

This is Sam checking the wine to see if it is ready for step two. It isn't ready yet. Hopefully it will be tomorrow. We will check it again tomorrow morning. We are so close! (0.02 pts away!)
Latin Night! (Sunday Night)
Our buddy Dave just got back from a deployment from Honduras and he and his girlfriend Cierra made us authentic Latin American food. We were sp spoiled- it was awesome!!!
Thanks so much Dave and Cierra for such a great time!
Phoebe and Ben (Happy as can be- congrats on your new engagement!!!)

Dave was so sweet and bought Reagan a litttle dress that was hand embroidered by a woman in Honduras. It is such a beautiful dress, I can't wait until she can wear it!

I have to admit- I think this test was more fun for me then it was for anyone taking it- and I can't believe no one got 100%!!! Not even my dear hubby or parents!

Sick and Wrong
I am so disappointed in Dateline. Tonight Sam and I were watching "To Catch A Predator" which I think is a great show. I am always amazed (in a horrific way) by the number of men who for the "first time" have done something so wrong as solicit a young girl or boy for sexual favors. Tonight I decided to go to Chris Hansen's blog and the advertisement on the site was for lingerie! They show a zoomed in close-up of a woman's breast then it zooms out to see the top half of a voluptuous woman wearing a bra. Sam and I both thought this was completely distasteful and inappropriate for a show that is trying to STOP predators! Wow! I wrote a letter to the editor, but don't expect to hear why they chose that type of advertisement. So wrong!
Long-time Friends!
One of the awesome things about the military is that once you make a great set of friends they are friends for life! Just before Christmas our long-time friends Alex and Rich came by our house on their way back to California. They were traveling from Boston to Cali. Alex and his wife Joyia are moving back to Cali after spending some time out in Mass. Rich and my Dad were stationed together in 1980-1987 in Hawaii and California. Their eldest daughter, Sky, and I were best friends! We were then pen pals forever! We still write today and get together whenever I go back to Cali. She and her hubby and their beautiful baby Ian live about an hour from my parents. Alex and David are the same age and so we all played together when we were wee tots!
Daddy 'n Reagan
This is our girl with paint on her face! Daddy tried to put her nuk in her mouth and had paint on his hand. You can see the result!
Here she is watching Daddy!
Still watching Daddy paint! (Sam and I put a faux finish on the bathroom walls and I must say it looks AWESOME! I did the first step and he followed behind and did the second. We make a great team!)
Worn out from all that watching.

WSC Wine Club
February 7, 2007 was the first meeting for the Warren Spouses Club: Wine Club. Well, there have been other meetings, but the club went on hold for a while, then I decided I would be the Point of Contact and we re-started it. We had such a good time! We started making our first batch of wine- Pinot Blanc. Now I have never had Pinot Blanc, but the owner of the store I buy the products at said it is their most popular. It is a slightly dry medium bodied white wine. I am so excited to see how everything works out! Yeah!
The gal's preparing the wine.
