WI Trip- Green Bay!!!

We had the best time while we were in Green Bay! This is going to be a long post with lots of photo's so get ready! We were only there for a few short hours, but it was such an amazing and interesting day!

We started out meeting up with one of my best friends in the whole world- Kristin and her family. Kristin and I have been through more then I think I have been through with any other friend, previous to Samuel. Kristin married our friend Jim, whom we went to high school with, although they were not high school sweethearts. That whole thing developed later! So KGB (Kristin), Jim and I have known each other for many, many years. They have two beautiful children Brady and Aubrey and guess what- "Tripp" is on his or her way! (You ladies who are told you won't get pg while breastbeeding, I don't think KGB minds that I tell you it isn't true!) They are super excited about their third little one, and everyone is doing great!
So, going to Green Bay wouldn't be the same if we didn't see the Pack. Every year when I was younger I went to one or several games and I miss that so much! We saw Bretty-Bret practice for a while, then he stood the sidelines. Couldn't have him hurting himself you know! It definately wasn't the same as being in Lambeau for a game day, but it works! Boy does that bring back memories. I sometimes wonder if I have actually lived the life of the memories I have. Anyone else ever feel that way? Things are so surreal sometimes!

This was Sam and I's first apartment! We just loved it. Our entrance is the one all the way on the right, and we immediately walked upstairs and the balcony you see at the top was ours. It was quite spacious and we filled it well! ;)The two photo's below are the house in Green Bay that my Dad "retired" in. I say "retired" because although he retired from the Navy, he still hasn't retired yet! You're too young to retire anyway's Pop's! For those of you who knew my house, you can see that in some way's it has changed a lot, and in others it is the same old wonderful sanctuary I knew in High School! (Why on earth, might I ask, did they put a red wagon in the middle of all that land?! I would have been mad because I mowed the lawn most of the time and I would have had to move it! Yea, I didn't mow because I was a sweet daughter, I did it because I would sit on the riding lawn mower for two-three hours in my bikini getting a tan that I am now paying for!)
During our Green Bay Day we met up with my girl Crissy. We were partners in crime on many occasions- toured around France and England together (with KGB) and caused all kinds of ruckus! ;) (Not really, it just sounds like fun...) We had an appetizer at a little coffee shop that we used to frequent back in the day. It was awesome to touch base, even if it was only an hour!

You would never beleive this, but after we went past my parent's old house, we went to the country club that Sam worked at for a while. As we were walking around touring the new pool area they built we heard someone yell, "Beth??!! Sam??!!" It was our dear friend BethAnn! She and her childern were there with some friends- their daughter Brigit was a flower girl in our wedding. Well, she looked at her table of ladies and said, these are the Daane's that we were just talking about!" and the ladies all said- "Ohhh- the Daane's with the Dane!" It was so funny! Stupid me, I didn't get a photo of them because I was so dumbfounded. Sorry Mom- I know you would have loved to see Derek and Brigit- they have grown so much!! BethAnn proceeded to tell us that we just missed our friend Kim, so I hopped on the phone and called her up! She and three of their girls were home, so we swung over to their house. Kim was a big part of my Mom's decision to start her home day care so many years ago. Kim and Tom decided that if my Mom started a home daycare (she was teaching their girls at a big daycare) they would pull their girls out and take them to my Mom. Another family did the same thing, so my Mom did it! Now the twins, Andrea and Heather, have graduated from high school and are starting at UW-Oshkosh! Wow! Time goes by so fast! In the photo below you will see Kim and the girls. Starting from top- Megan, Kim, Shelby (who was also a flowergirl in our wedding) and Andrea. Heather and Tom weren't home. It was so awesome to sit and chat with them all!
We had dinner with our dear, dear friends Mike and Aimee and their little boy Elijah. Elijah was a wee bit sick, so we were sad for that, but boy is he a cute little man! Mike and I have been friends for so many years- well, since we were in high school. He went to a differenc high school, and was a year older, but we became very close friends and still are even though we don't talk nearly as much as I would like. Seeing the old house reminds me so much of the times Mike and Rankin (not is GB anymore- in San Fran see "May 2006" CA post of when I saw him) would hang out at my house and do dumb crazy things with Kristin and Crissy or just Mike, Ryan and I. My Mom always had the makings for rootbeer floats on hand and they would often stay at my house past my bed time and make themselves rootbeer floats and just hang out. Yes- I have never had a problem leaving my guests hang by themselves at my house if it were my bedtime- I truly feel that with some of my friends, what's mine is yours and you make yourself at home in mine--- and they did! Mike also went with me to my Senior Ball and the last formal I had with my sorority in college. He was my "date" when Sam couldn't be there! Mike was also in our wedding! We have been through so much! I wish we could see each other more often...

Wow- did you make it through this post?! You bloggin' girls should have never told me you could put more then 5 photo's on a post- now look at the shenanegan's I am up to! Hee Hee!
